There seems to be some kind of a bug taking place when you log on. I've noticed this with my sorc, and from what I've tested it's connected to the charisma modificator (none of the buggish things I'll try to describe happen to my cleric, unfortunately though my bard is still too low to test it with it).

As far as I can tell the more buffed with items your charisma is, the lower the number of spells you get is. For example, if I have the charisma at 34 (22 base + 12 from items) and the character gets, let's say 11 level 9 spells after the rest, once I relog I come back with 6 level 9 spells, the lower level spells decrease respectively.

It doesn't matter if after the rest I get 11, 10, 9, 14 level 9 spells/day, when I relog it's always 6 left when the charisma is at 34. Once I take the charisma buffing items off, it all looks fine, the rest gives me 9 and I come back with 9, rest gives 11, I come back with 11. When I took off one charisma buffing item (Armor of Greater Enchantment, +5 charisma, so I end up with 31 charisma with +9 from Heroes Cloak) the number of level 9 spells I come back with increases to 8. It seems like an inverse proportion to the charisma modificator...

I should add that the character is immortal, maybe that has something to do here.

The last line about the character being immortal is the worrying one for me. I'll have to do some more digging there when I get the chance.

Otherwise this doesn't sound too bad. It's not quite how I want things but I'm assuming that a rest will restore you back to the full expected number of spells? My take is that it's better to have some spells, even if you've lost a few castings, than to reappear with no spells left at all. Or am I misunderstanding things?

Well, it's like heaven and hell, having some spells after relog and not having any ;) And since it's giving less spells I guess it's safe exploit-wise. Thumbs up there.

As far as the aforementioned "bug" is concerned I thought you simply might want to know about this, since I didn't know if it's intended or not :)

And yes, resting restores the correct number of spells.

Sorry about the recent lack of any updates; I've been busy tidying up the code base and doing some profiling. The idea is to be able to keep things running smoothly if we get more players. I've rewritten a few key bits of the code and recompiled it using the PRC compiler with optimization switched on. I don't really expect this to be noticeable with the number of players we have at the moment, but I have also made a couple of changes that will be visible to you.
  • The PC Scry now knows about prestige classes.
  • A certain door can now be opened by a group of 5 people.
As always, please let me know if you find any problems. I'd rather hear about the same problem from 5 different people than not to hear about it at all. ;)

I noticed this on the server (got spanked by a half-orc bandit) and wondered "Was it always that way?"
No issue with the change tho. You just have to be a little more carefull when you drink. Just a thought do the monsters provoke AoO when they used ranged or drink pots?

Also I assume point-blank-shot will prevent AoO with ranged.

Thanks for the time and effort running the server.

I don't think the original server had settings enabled for AoO but I figured you guys could handle a little bit more of a challenge ;)

The point blank shot feat doesn't negate AoO when using ranged weapons. The combination of the dodge and mobility feats will give you 4 more points of AC against them though. This kind of counters the rogue opportunist bonus feat which is now slightly more useful with AoO enabled.

Lol no issues with the challange..
But would you be willing to implement this on the monster side as well?
I'd like to see those Drow wizzys suffer an AoO using that silly cross bow as well as when monsters drink pots.
Thoughts?

I was under the impression that with the current settings, AoO work the same way for NPCs as for players. Certainly that was my intention; that NPCs and PCs should be playing by the same rules as far as feasible. Of course I may well have gotten it completely wrong (again). ;)

I'm getting AoO from critters moving in combat.. but the use of ranged weapons and pot drinking doesn't seem to be provoking them.
